Approximately 26 years

That's how long it's taken me to realize that adding salt to all my dessert recipes doesn't make a bit of difference. I've had my suspicions for years, but I've always erred on the side of caution and added it anyway because google tells me that it enhances the sweetness or something crazy like that. If you ask me, that's just Morton's description of creative marketing. Whatever. It's not important. As soon as I watch U2's final performance on Letterman, I'm gonna hit the sack.

To your baked desserts? Or do you even add it to your bowl ice cream? LOL. If so, I have never heard about that!

I NEVER add salt. I have always grown up leaving it out and you are right you can't tell one bit of difference. Plus it is better for you to not add salt to everything.

Salt helps to cover bitterness that is found in some ingredients.

I like anonymous' comment. If that were true they wouldn't be afraid to put their name and own the idea! I totally agree, and yet everything calls for it.

You can never add too much salt to chocolate chip cookies, actually. I personally use no less than 2 tsp.
